Catalogue, 1958
The last catalogue the works issued before its yard closed. It runs to 72 pages, printed in offset on coated paper, with eight colour plates. The plates are the reason the file is so large. Each one was photographed twice, once with the light set for the printing and once for the surface of the paper, because the printer's ink sits differently on the two sides of the fold.
The catalogue lists lawn mixtures, meadow seed and a short section on bulbs. Quantities are given by weight rather than by packet, which is unusual for the period and is recorded as printed.
Parts
| Part | Files | Format | Size |
|---|---|---|---|
| Covers | 2 | TIFF | 0.8 GB |
| Text pages 1 to 64 | 64 | TIFF | 9.7 GB |
| Colour plates 1 to 8, both captures | 16 | TIFF | 4.4 GB |
The bulb section is indexed entry by entry. The grass section is indexed to the level of the mixture name, because the individual species within a mixture are not listed in the printed text.
The plate files are not interchangeable with one another. A reader who wants the colour must open the second capture, and the first is kept only so that the printing process can be studied later.
